human concerns
The Human Concerns Commission serves as a liaison between the parish council and various ministries concerned with human concern issues within and outside the parish.
- Bereavement
Ministry: This ministry was formed to
reach out to the recently bereaved of our community
and to provide support and a compassionate, caring
presence.
- Caring
Companions: Represent your parish
community in bringing the healing presence of Christ
to the homebound and the elderly.
- Eucharistic Ministers to the
Homebound: These Eucharistic Ministers
represent the parish community and bring the
sacrament of the Eucharist to the homebound or
nursing home resident.
- Eucharistic Ministers to St.
Luke's: Eucharistic ministers who represent
the parish community and bring the Eucharist to
Catholics who are hospitalized at St. Luke's Medical
Center.
- Health Care Ministry:
This ministry provides free blood pressure
screenings to any of our parishioners during
Hospitality Sunday. Provides an annual Blood Drive
and Flu Clinic.
- Ministry of Praise: This
is a spiritual ministry in which members offer their
prayers for specific intentions. A
correspondence is sent out each month with a
spiritual reflection and the intentions.
- Open Door Free Clinic:
This ministry provides health care to the uninsured
and underinsured. The clinic is open every Wednesday
evening.

- Prayer
Chain Ministry: The purpose of this
ministry is to intercede on behalf of others in
times of emergency or special needs. Prayer
requests are given by phone or e-mail.
- Prayer
Shawl Ministry: These ministers offer
prayers and blessings for the recipients of the
shawls they are creating. Completed Shawls are
blessed and distributed.
- Respect Life Committee:
This committee educates on life issues from
conception to natural death, advocating for issues
of human life and dignity.
- St. Ben's Meal Program:
Prepares delivers and serves a meal to the needy on
the fourth Monday of every month.

Makes home visits to needy people in the community
including the homeless, battered women and

- Service
Volunteers: This ministry provides
people with the opportunity to offer their services
for specific projects as needed.
- Southwest Interfaith: A
faith-based organization committed to enhancing the
quality of life for older adults, by helping the
elderly to remain in their homes and live
independent lives, for as long as
possible.

- The Widows of Prayer: The Widows of Prayer are women who devote themselves to a ministry of prayer for priests and others in Church leadership.
